Welcome to Williamsport Tours

Newfoundland IcebergsHome base to Williamsport Tours is our lovely lodge remotely located in Northern Arm, on Newfoundland's Northern Peninsula. There are a multitude of outdoor activities that will appeal to a wide variety of interests. A short boat ride from civilization and you will find yourself emersed into a world not experienced anywhere else on the planet!

ICEBERGS

On your journey you will sail past 15,000 year old icebergs the size of a 15 story building. Every year 400-800 icebergs creep stealthily under their own weight down the east coast of Labrador and Newfoundland, often grounding themselves along the shore. Icebergs hide 87% of their volume under water and can flip upside down at any moment. This is why it is best to view them with our experienced guides who approach them with extreme caution ensuring you don't suffer the same fate as the Titanic.

WHALES

Newfoundland Whale watchingCome back in time with us and explore the former Whaling Station at Williamsport. The remnants of the commercial operation stand today as a reminder of more than 400 years of whaling in the region. The town was bustling until 1972 when a Canadian moratorium on commercial whaling forced the closure of the Williamsport station and led to the eventual demise of Williamsport as a community.

Twenty-two species of whales, dolphins, and porpoises ply the waters surrounding Williamsport including the mighty Humpback, Fin, Sperm, and Minke. You will also see the Harbour Porpoise and the Saddleback Dolphin. Humpbacks visit Newfoundland and Labrador from May to September, arriving to feed on capelin, krill, sand lance, and squid. Cruise right alongside a 36 tonne Humpback and grab your camera as you feel the mist on your face from the breach of these majestic creatures.
