Lodge
Williamsport Tours operates Northern Arm Lodge in the historic community of Williamsport. The Lodge is located in a picturesque inlet 17 miles from the nearest community of Englee.
The Lodge is ideally situated in "Iceberg Alley", aptly named for the abundance of spectacular icebergs that forge south from Greenland each summer. The waters surrounding Williamsport are a mecca for Whale watching as mighty Humpback search the inland shores for food.
The Lodge offers 6 comfortable rooms with a common area for guests. Dining at Northern Arm Lodge will please the most discerning palette. We offer home styled meals that reflect the heritage of outport Newfoundland. Despite its remote locale you can expect full plumbing and electrical amenities. Guests share two fully equipped baths.
The Lodge is nestled alongside a river rich with trout and salmon that winds through the valley. Just steps from the lodge a nature trail guides guests along the river deep into the valley offering unparalleled vistas.
Less than one hour will take you to the foot of a spectacular waterfall where you can test your photographic skills. For the true adventurer there are long distant trails that travel further into the countryside allowing guests a chance to get up close and personal with Newfoundland wildlife.
The mountainous terrain is covered with forest, consisting of birch,
fir, spruce and various types of vegetation.
The surrounding
forest provides food and shelter for large animals such as moose, while the large
cliffs are ideal resting areas for Eagles and Osprey. Within eyesight of the Lodge is the remnants of the Whaling factory and the former fishing outport that dominated life here in the 20th century. |
